We all know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a critical opportunity to instigate and participate in conversations about a disease that should not be ignored. While there may not be a proven strategy to staving off this deadly cancer, there are many proactive steps we can all take to improve our breast health holistically. It's also important to build these steps into your preventive care all year long, not just during the month everyone is wearing pink. We often like to quote Benjamin Franklin when we think about the big picture toward improving health:
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
All month we will be featuring a therapy, service or product that helps promote optimal breast health. You can find these useful nuggets of information coming from our facebook and twitter pages. Please take the time to make sure you are following us and do your part during this month by sharing these important tips with your friends and family. A preview of the topics you can expect to learn about and how they relate to breast health: Bio-identical hormone optimization, IV nutrition, Enhansa, Lymphatic Massage, Iodine, Weight Loss, Cortisol Testing, Adrenal Support, Acupuncture, Massage, DIM, Optimizing Thyroid, and Thermography.
Today, we’re starting with Thermography. This non-invasive technique is used primarily to monitor breast health by way of infared imaging rather than radiation. Thermograms are both safe and comfortable for clients, causing no discomfort or pain. Notable for its early detection and disease prevention capabilities, thermography can potentially detect signs of pre-cancerous cellular growth well in advance of standard screening procedures. For that reason, it has become an increasingly well-accepted screening tool used to monitor breast health, and has been FDA approved for use in conjunction with mammography, since the 1980s.
